She warned me, in that somber way the Starks of Winterfell were known for, that the Iron Throne would be cold and lonely. That there would be nothing in King’s Landing for me but responsibility and regret. That duty and honor, fire and blood, would not keep me warm at night.
I asked her to come South with me, though I already knew her answer to that. This was her home. She had duties here as regent Warden of the North, watching over her sick father and looking after the people of Winterfell. She understood why I had to leave and yet begged me to stay.
I should have listened.
Instead, I jokingly told her with a sad smile that fire cannot kill a dragon, but the harsh winters of the North can. And when tears sprang to her beautiful dark eyes, I kissed her soundly. No goodbyes, only unspoken promises that one day, I’d come back.

#and i love ron and hermione together sooo much but i do believe that if this had happened- if they had kissed- then we all would love them too. because there would have been something magical about them falling in love as well. #and if she hadn’t walked away and followed her heart and her feelings for ron. if she had stayed harry would have kissed her and those two would have fallen in love. even though she loves ron and he loves ginny she would have learned to love him romantically. because she already loves him so much that she could have learned to love him a little differently. #he does love her. he loves her for staying with him when no one else did. and even though he loves ginny so much he’s thinking he’s never going back to his old life so he’s looking at his best friend as if they’re the last two left and he loves her for it. r #i love this scene. i think that is clear now so rant over haha :) #okay let me have a chat about this scene. #there is that moment when they move apart after dancing and they’re looking at each other and hermione looks down where as harry keeps looking at hermione and i strongly believe that he is looking at her with true love. #this scene is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series and it is carried out entirely though silence
